Effectiveness of Protest
Our democratic right to protest might be under threat at present but for centuries London’s streets have witnessed protests with Parliament Square and Trafalgar Square often the focus of the demonstrations.
Protests over the centuries have included the poll tax protests of the 1300s Great Revolt and the 1990 riot where hundreds were injured to the Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil campaigners who seek to reduce our reliance on hydrocarbons.

Other protests have included anti-war demonstrations and workers rights activists. What made some of these protests more effective than others? Is violent disruption or criminal damage ever justified? Join me for the fascinating and ongoing story of protest against the backdrop of our evolving democracy.
