"The most fascinating museum"
FREE to visit, the remarkable, eclectic home and museum of Sir John Soane, one of the greatest English architects, is now a museum at 13 Lincoln's Inn Fields, London WC2A 3BP. As it was at his death in 1837, the house displays his vast collection of classical sculpture, paintings and curiosities. The ingenious Picture Room contains masterpieces by Hogarth, Canaletto, Turner and Piranesi. Soane used moving ‘picture planes’ to hang 118 paintings in this small space.

It's open Wednesday to Sunday, 10 am to 5pm and bank holidays. Entry is FREE and no booking is required. You can join a highlights tour, or see the private apartments. The opening times for the panels in the Picture Room are 2pm for Hogarth's "A Rake’s Progress" (north wall) and
11am, 3pm and 4pm: Picture Room Recess (south wall)
You can also take a virtual tour from a link on the website from the comfort of your own home!
